Imani Rucker

Teaching Apprentice

Zora Neale Hurston is quoted for saying “Research is formalized curiosity. It is poking and prying with purpose.” This is a statement that follows me as I look into education, scientific research and guide others through that special place where both of those intersect. Everyone has curiosities and if you are privileged enough to be a part of their journey - I believe you owe it to them to teach them how to ask all the questions in the best ways possible. I come to the Mastery School with over 7 years of mentoring, advocacy work and program building. Through my work in both cancer and maternal-fetal research; I have learned a lot that I hope to bring to help develop cellular, molecular and biochemical curriculum here at MSH. My career as a writer, educator and scientist has been ever-evolving and I am beyond thrilled that it has led me here. Life for me is best spent poorly breathing through Pilates, cooking meals for my loved ones, traveling anywhere I can go and making moments last with those closest to me.

Imani earned a BA in Molecular Biology from Kenyon College.
