My teaching philosophy is built on the Theodore Roosevelt quote “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.” By building strong relationships with students, I am able to meet each student where they are and help them reach their potential. One of my primary goals as a math teacher is to help students build confidence in math by showing them how what they’re learning connects to the real world and provides them with skills that they will use outside of the classroom. Watching students have “lightbulb moments” when something finally makes sense or they connect what they’re currently learning to what they’ve learned previously or in another class is what drives me. I worked in fundraising and sales for six years before becoming a teacher and joining the Mastery School fresh from teaching at a magnet school in Houston, TX. Outside of school, you can find me reading, in New York seeing Broadway shows, or with my husband and dog watching television while working on my latest knitting or crochet project.
