Intensives

Hawken School’s innovative schedule ensures that both student development and the commodity of time are optimized. One of the benefits of this schedule is the Intensive – a three-week, in-depth academic experience where students take one course for a semester’s credit.

 

During Intensive classes, teachers and students meet all day, which allows uninterrupted time for academic coursework, experiential and service learning, in-depth projects, and travel around Cleveland, throughout the United States and abroad.

 

Intensives happen twice during the school year. The fall semester ends at Thanksgiving Break and students take an Intensive in the three weeks leading up to Winter Break. They do this again in the last three weeks of the school year after the spring semester. Hawken offers all disciplines in the Intensives format, including core and elective offerings. Course offerings vary from year to year, allowing for the inclusion of relevant and timely topics.
