Thursday Note 5.20.21

Happy Thursday! This note contains important information and upcoming events. Thanks for reading each week!

Thursday Note from
The Mastery School of Hawken

Thanks to Laurel and everyone else who helped make our New Family Welcome such a success.
May 20, 2021

All of us are thinking about the end of the year — and deservedly so — but it’s hard not to be excited for the start of next year, particularly after Tuesday night’s New Family Welcome event.

For the first and only time in our school’s history, we will double in size next school year, and we could not be more excited about the families who will join us in this adventure.

On Tuesday, the weather was spectacular as many current families and students welcomed the next class of Mastery School families to campus. The mood was vibrant, the sun was warm, and the ice cream was perfectly chilled.

A huge thank you to all those who joined us with a special dose of gratitude to the Parent Ambassadors who spoke to the gathered crowd about their experiences and their belief in what we’re creating at the Mastery School.

And the student club leaders who joined us! In a stunning bit of unsurprising news, they welcomed the next class with warmth, humor, and generosity. Mr. Faturoti and the others on the Mastery faculty led them in games and activities that broke the ice and generated the kinds of connections that make our community so tight.

So thank you and welcome to our new families! And on to Intensives!

There’s still time!

“Care for our community” has been a constant theme over the last 15 months, and we are grateful to the many people who have demonstrated this by supporting the Hawken Fund so far this year.
There is no better time to show love for our students and faculty. Hawken Fund dollars are used exclusively to support Hawken’s day-to-day needs. Every year, every gift matters.
There’s still time to give to this year’s annual fund. Simply click here or find us on Venmo @HawkenSchool. Thank you!

Highlight of the Week

Each week, we find one glittering jewel to share among the pile of glittering jewels. This week’s highlight: The excitement we saw on the masked faces of our newest students and our current ones. After a year filled with surprises, challenges, and grace, we are poised to do great things because of the families, faculty, and students who’ve chosen to be part of the adventure. That’s something to smile about.
