Thursday Note from The Mastery School of Hawken
January 14, 2021
We’ve missed our students, and can’t wait to get back to in person learning next week. We have good newson that front!
In the interest of recovering some in-person time, next week we will be on campus Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
If this schedule shift poses a problem for your family, we will continue to offer the option of staying remote. All you have to do is contact your Intensive teacher directly.
See you on Tuesday!

All students must complete Teambuildr each day that they come to campus.

Congrats to Ethan!
We are incredibly proud that Ethan K., Class of ’24,was named the first-place winner of the Tri-C Stand for Racial Justice essay contest for the 9th/10th-grade students! The judges chose Ethan’s essay out of 192 total submissions. Look for his essay and photo tomorrow on Cleveland.com and in the print edition of The Plain Dealer.
In some self-congratulatory news, the Mastery School website won an award. Each year, Inspired School Marketers hosts the Brilliance Awards to highlight exemplary work in school communication and marketing. Our website won a Bronze Award.
One judge wrote, “I was captivated by this website right away — the red thread grabbed me and led me through the school’s unique philosophy and persuasive point of view. More schools should take such a bold stance!”
How about that?

Highlight of the Week
Each week, we find one glittering jewel to share among the pile of glittering jewels. This week’s highlight: This weekend, we hosted “Cultivating #blackboyjoy,” a virtual event that explored our approach to helping black male students develop a positive sense of identity, academic confidence, and leadership through caring relationships. Huge thanks to @SanctuaryCLE & Twelve Literary Arts!
